The Life of A Web Designer

Every week I try and find something funny about my profession. I find it to be funny when I see other designer and developers experiencing some of the aches and pains I go through at times. But I wonder if this is only just the design industry? Do you think any other industry witness the same issues?

Lil Wayne is Teaching Social Media Marketing

Learning Social Media from Wayne

Seriously? Lil Wayne is teaching social media marketing now? I know he’s a very driven and smart street brand. But can he really teach us how to make the most of social media marketing? In all actuality, he really has a good grasp on how to make the medium work for him. It’s only right he can show you too.

Interesting Social Media Ideas

Uniqueness in Your Brand. Most individuals are on Twitter to keep up with their friends and their whereabouts. They may be unique in their own right. Even entertaining too. But what if you were a business? You’d need a way to differentiate yourself from the competitor in your niche. It starts with your brand. I’m not talking about a piece of clip art with your name along side it. But a true brand, well thought out, and focused image. One that your audience want to be associate with.

Content is King. There is no way around it. You have to have content. Content is the reason why Google exist. There was a need for people to find valuable content within a timely manner. Lil Wayne created a WeezyThankYou website for his fans. The content is fresh with all the latest news. Great idea Weezy.

Simply Ask for It. With Weezy steelo, I’m sure it was more like telling you in a respectable street manner. “No disrespect at all, but you need to be clicking on the Likes button on my Facebook page.” — or something to that affect. It’s really a great way to get what you want. Just tell your audience what you want them to do. It’s something like a hardcore call to action.

Make My Logo Bigger! Seriously?

It’s all too often that a client really wants to have the logo be the most prominent visual element on their website. I understand that it may appear that it’s what they call a brand. A brand is more than just the clipart as my good friend at Powerband Graphics would say. It’s seriously not the size in which the logo is presented. But instead the holistic approach of a message you want to project to your target audience. I can run my engine on this subject for a very long time without taking a breathe, but I’m going to let the Make My Logo Bigger Cream video do the spoofing.

My Mechanic, and his Webmaster Skills

Ruby Red Karmann Ghia

If I have issues with my Karmann Ghia, I have a crew of rugged, grease-under-the-fingernails type mechanics I can trust with my baby. These guys know their engines, and they know how to fine tune my prized possession.

But I was pleased to discover these guys basically know the foundation of solid web development, too. Stick with me here, and I’ll take you under the hood of a fundamentally strong website.

The $16.5 Billion Secret to Climbing Google Rankings

I saw a stat the other day that stopped my tracks.

In 2010, the search engine optimization (SEO) industry is expected to score $16.5 billion in revenue. That’s $16.5 billion tickets bought by businesses hoping to hit the Google lottery for prime space on search engine results. I guess when the prize is big, people are willing to throw their money around.
